The Kentucky Derby is upon us and Blue Silks Racing Form is proud to bring you our first official Derby selection. We are backing Tacitus! But more to come on that later in our post.

We here at Blue Silks Racing Form love Derby Day. It is one of the most exciting and best betting days of the year. And Sunday will begin the search for next year's Derby Champion.

The weather is supposed to be rainy throughout the day which could lead to some interesting results and will make for a exciting card.

But on to heart of this post, the selections and analysis of the Full Churchill Downs Derby Card.

Race 1

#3 Curate is the class of this race. Showing improving form and just missed last time out. #5 Mr. Crow drops out of stakes company into this allowance spot. #2 Control Stake has also shown good form in lower stakes races and is dropping into allowance here while looking very sharp in the morning.

Race 2

#6 American Anthem is a graded stakes winner who is making his return to the track here in this allowance race. Stretching out a little but certainly has the class and speed to get the job done here. #5 King Zachary also is making his 2019 debut here as a graded stakes winner as well as having won twice at Churchill before. #1 General Downs should improve shortening up some and having freshened up.

Race 3

#3 Saddle Bar has looked lightening quick in the mornings and seems primed for his first start. #4 Surooj just missed in his debut and will look to claim top honors this time out. #1 He's Stylish has put in a few good efforts before freshening up for this spot.

Race 4

#2 Hidden Scroll is dropping in class here and turning back to a distance that should suit his front running style well. #3 Zorb ran second versus allowance company last time and looks strong in the morning. #4 High Crime yielded late in his last race but is turning back here to a distance that should suit him well. Gave a game effort at 7F before in stakes company.

Race 5

#3 Brie's Lucky Charm just missed out twice in a row and is looking strong to break through. #12 Gold Standard just missed out last time in her debut and looks to take a step forward. #6 Silver Kitten also just missed last time out versus similar.

Race 6 Humana Distaff Stakes

#7 Marley's Freedom comes in hot with 2 wins and a second in her last three, including winning at 7F two races back. #2 Spiced Perfection won the Grade 1 Madison last time out and looks to continue that here. #5 Amy's Challenge just missed in the Madison last time out and had won her previous two starts.

Race 7 Longines Churchill Distaff Turf Mile Stakes

#6 Precieuse is the top pick here. In her two starts in the USA, she missed by a head and won a graded stakes. #10 Valedictorian has won two of three versus good company including several here and her loss was by half a length to Precieuse. #9 Environs is stepping up but gave an impressive performance in her USA debut at Keeneland.

Race 8 Churchill Downs Stakes

#8 Mitole comes in winning his last 6 races in impressive fashion at very low odds. Expect a little better payout today as this is the largest field he has faced in awhile. #6 Promises Fulfilled comes in after a disappointing effort in Dubai but certainly has shown the class and speed to win this race. #4 Bobby's Wicked One also comes in hot having won 3 straight including defeating several of today's foes last time out.

Race 9 American Turf Stakes

#1 A Thread of Blue comes in hot having won 3 straight. #2 Social Paranoia steps up having broke his maiden impressively last time out and has competed in stakes company well previously. #8 Avie's Flatter also comes in hot having won 3 straight beating similar company last time out.

Race 10 Pat Day Mile Stakes

#10 Instagrand was a strong derby hopeful that lands in here and is candidate to improve at this shorter distance. #14 Last Judgement moves up here but comes in having won 2 straight. #4 Mr Money Bags comes in having won 3 straight impressively and looks to continue that run as he stretches out here.

Race 11 Old Forester Turf Classic Stakes

#12 Bricks and Mortar comes in having won 3 straight and his trainer Chad Brown is one of the best at having his horses ready to win on the turf. #2 Raging Bull comes in looking to rebound from a disappointing effort but will be flying late to try and win. #9 Synchrony has hit the board in three straight graded stakes and will look to continue that streak here.

Race 12 Kentucky Derby

With the injury to Omaha Beach, the Derby became much more open. This years field has been inconsistent and anything could happen here. #8 Tacitus comes in having won 2 straight stakes and is the only starter that can say that. #16 Game Winner won the Breeders Cup Juvenile at Churchill in the fall and has put in two game efforts just losing out twice this year. #7 Maximum Security is undefeated and will look to win the field here having improved in each start.

Race 13

#1 Limonite is dropping in class today after putting in some good efforts on the Derby trail. #5 Aquadini was over matched in the Bluegrass Stakes but will be much more competitive in this field. #10 Bandon Woods was impressive in breaking his maiden last time out at Keeneland.

Race 14

#1 Rotation looks to finally break through after finishing second his last two times out as does #2 Ranger Up. #3 Morning Social is also looking to break through having started 4 times and been on the board each time.
