Breeder’s Cup Friday 2019
Happy Breeder's Cup Friday!! We are finally at the culmination of the horse racing year. Champions will be crowned today in the Future Stars division. It is supposed to be a gorgeous day and should have lots of exciting racing. This year is the 10th edition of the Breeder's Cup to be run at Santa Anita. There are 10 races today starting at 1:45pm EST and races 5 to 9 are today's Future Stars Breeder's Cup races. There are also 3 doubles that combine Friday and Saturday races. The Juvenile Turf - Turf, The Juvenile Fillies - Distaff, and The Juvenile - Classic.
Here is today's analysis and selections for Santa Anita:
Race 1
1-4-2
The racing day starts off with a Grade 2, the Marathon Stakes. At 14 furloughs, it the longest race of the weekend. #1 Itsinthepost ran very well last time on dirt at an extended distance and that form could carry the day here. #4 Zestful will probably be the one leading the field around the course and watch for him to try to slow the race down and steal it as he has lead and won his last six races. #2 American Tattoo looked good in his last effort winning at Belmont.
Race 2
9-4-1-10
#9 Heathers Grey has shown good and consistent form her last 4 starts with 2 wins and 2 places. Watch for her to be in the mix again today. #4 Opus Won has shown improving form her last three starts with 2 wins and a place. She is stepping up here but looks to be ready for the challenge. #1 Rayana is coming back to the distance that she broke her maiden at. #10 An Eddie Surprise has hit the board in three straight versus similar company.
Race 3
11-8-4-9
#11 Been Studying Her is dropping in class here. She lost out to Bast who is one of the favorites in the Juvenile Fillies later in the day. She looks to be well placed here. #8 Bulletproof One has hit the board in 4 of 5 career races with 3 wins. #4 Warren's Showtime put up a strong victory last time out on the grass. Shortening up a little today while moving over to the dirt but still looks strong here. #9 Cholula Lips is coming back to the dirt where she has had more success just losing out to Been Studying Her last time on dirt.
Race 4
11-2-9-3
#11 Square Deal is returning to the dirt where he scored two impressive victories(although DQed in one, he rebounded to win the next). #2 Cali Dude broke his maiden impressively last time out and looks to step up here. #9 Pas de Panique lost out to Square Deal his last two races though was moved ahead of him in one through DQ. He has been competitive and looks good in the mornings. #3 Tap Back has taken well to Santa Anita in the mornings and ran well in defeat to Square Deal two back.
Race 5 Juvenile Turf Sprint

#9 Four Wheel Drive has powered home to two strong and very impressive wins in his two career starts. This would be his biggest win yet but he is more than capable of winning today. #7 Kimari has the talent to stop Four Wheel Drive. She is 3 for 4 lifetime with her lone loss by a head at Royal Ascot on a soft course. #10 A'Ali comes over from Europe with 3 wins and a place in 5 starts including a solid win last time out. #12 Cambria is three for three with a very solid win last time out at Kentucky Downs.
Race 6 Juvenile Turf
2-4-12-13
#2 Structor has 2 wins from 2 starts including a solid victory in the Grade 3 Pilgrim last time at Belmont. #4 Decorated Invader won impressively in the Grade 1 Summer Stakes at Woodbine last time out. He looks well positioned here. #12 Arizona comes over from Europe with a solid track record 2-2-1 in 6 starts. Watch for him to be very dangerous here. #13 Fort Myers is another European that has a good record and a scored a solid win last time out.
Race 7 Juvenile Fillies
6-7-4-2
#6 Bast has improved in all three of her starts including winning here at Santa Anita at this distance in a Grade 1 stakes last time out. She looks primed and ready to become a Champion here. #7 Wicked Whisper is two for two coming into this including a great win in the Grade 1 Frizette at Belmont last time out. #4 British Idiom is also two for two with a Grade 1 victory at Keeneland last time. She looks very strong coming into this race today. #2 Two Sixty switched to a route last time out and came home with an impressive victory leading from gate to wire.
Race 8 Juvenile Fillies Turf
11-12-5-13
#11 Sharing put up an impressive victory in her first try at a route on the turf. Another step forward will have her claiming victory here today as well. #12 Sweet Melania scored an impressive victory in the Grade 2 Jessamine Stakes at Keeneland after just being beaten by a neck in her previous effort. #5 Daahyeh comes over from Europe with an very solid record, 3 wins and 2 places in 5 starts including winning a Grade 2 in her last start. #13 Selflessly scored a strong victory in a Grade 2 at Belmont last time out.
Race 9 Juvenile Stakes
1-6-5-7
#1 Dennis' Moment is a deserved favorite in this race after a monster of a maiden victory that was back up by a stronger effort in winning the Iroquois Stakes at Churchill Downs. He has also been training up a storm the morning. #6 Eight Rings will attempt to back up his strong victory in the Grade 1 American Pharaoh here. He has also been working very well in the mornings. #5 Scabbard has shown improving form in three straight and was closing on Dennis' Moment last time out. #7 Anneau d'Or scored a solid maiden victory in his debut and steps up in class here but will come closing in to get into the mix.
Race 10
8-1-5-10
#8 Threefiveindia was in the mix in his first start off the layoff and looks to take another step forward. #1 Rogallo finished second off a layoff versus similar last time out and also is eligible to improve. #15 Outlaw drew into the race and is a winner of his last two. #10 Comedian closed well in his last effort and will look to repeat that here today.
